MARCUS LOCKE

Locke is a designer and builder, shaped by a family of native Charlotte entrepreneurs whose work he witnessed build  businesses but also shaped the communities around them. That legacy influenced his path and sits at the center of his practice today.

In 2020, Locke purchased his first container with the idea that it could be more than a unit of space. He saw the start of something scalable and sustainable — a way to respond to a city where the communities that poured into it, and the people who made it, are now too often pushed aside by growth and left behind in terms of economic mobility.

His work is rooted in spatial practice: the belief that space is never neutral, but a reflection of who it serves and what it makes possible.  Each container, each space, each sustainable piece continues that inheritance of building with both community and future in mind.

Lockeye carries that vision forward: containers that double as classrooms, gathering spaces, and foundations for growth. A portfolio of design, but also of possibility.
